Historic center

Plaça Major (13th century): This is the main and most important square in Banyoles.

Pia Almoina (14th century): This Gothic palace was founded to distribute bread and clothes to the town's poor families. At present it houses the County Archaeology Museum holding major prehistoric, archaeological and palaeontological collections.

The City Wall (13th century): From Carrer Pia Almoina street the only remaining section of the city wall can be seen, which would once have been the walled enclosure of Banyoles. This enclosure lasted from the 13th to the 18th century.

Llotja del Tint Exchange (15th century): It is one of the few mediaeval Catalan mills conserving its original structure. The building was used to dye wool. At present it is a municipal gallery.

Carrer de la Paraireria: This street connects the church of Santa Maria dels Turers to Plaça de la Font. It is the shortest and narrowest street in the town. It is dedicated to the wool carders guild, one of the oldest in Banyoles dedicated to the art of wool.

Santa Maria del Turers (13th century):A single nave Gothic church,  the apse has a five-sided plan and the walls house 7 large windows. The stained glass windows are recent additions.

Monastery of Sant Esteve: It houses remains from different eras and the present church and cloister – with the exception of the late Gothic entrance – are Neoclassical in style.

Plaça del Teatre (13th century): Once the market square, it was the centre of the first mediaeval town. It is called Plaça del Teatre as the municipal theatre stood here from 1847 to 1934.

The Darder Natural History Museum: The areas in the museum's different rooms are the figure of Francesc Darder and his main contributions to the field of natural history.
